Landssamband blandaðra kóra, (LBK) The Association of mixed Choirs in Iceland was founded in 1938 with seven founding members. Today we still have one of the founding choirs active.
The LBK has 38 choirs as active members but in Iceland we have a very vivid choral life with more that 120 choirs of all kinds actively singing. Church choirs are the most populous within LBK but female choirs and male choirs have their own associations.
LBK is the most active choral association in Iceland and together with the Choral Directors Association, Félag íslenskra kórstjóra, FÍK, they will for the first time in Iceland, organise Nordklang and the Nordic Choral Directors Conference in June 2022.
