Wednesday June 29 2022, the Nordklang Choral Festival will start with a Opening Ceremony at 18:00 where you will hear the following choirs perform:
- The Multicultural Choir brings together women from across the world to sing songs from their home countries, in the original languages. The choir gives its members a warm and diverse social circle and connections with Icelandic and international women from many walks of life, who support and learn from each other. Music is a universal language and the choir has the potential to create social bridges between the Icelandic society and the diverse cultures it hosts. Founder and choir director is Margrét Pálsdóttir.
- The Icelandic male choir Esja, founded in 2013, performs a mixture of traditional Icelandic music and various other genres. The essence of the choir’s craft is to disrupt the traditional male choir repertoire with a humorous twist.
